Members of the WRVS day centre in Poplar Road dressed up to win prizes on Monday.
They enjoyed free fish and chips, with cream and fruit to follow.
Organiser Joan Lock said the event had been held every year since the centre opened 26 years ago and it had always been a huge success.
She added: "It is always nice to see a smile on everyone's faces."
