Police today said they are searching for two men after a woman was raped in an alleyway in Braintree.

The woman, who is in her 20s and from the Braintree area, had been at the H2O nightclub in the town's High Street on Saturday night.

She left the club just before 3am on Sunday and walked along London Road, but was raped in an alleyway leading to Kenworthy Road.

A police spokesman said she had been too traumatised by the experience to give any details until now.

The woman described her two attackers as both being white and said they had walked away along Notley Road.

Both men are believed to have been in the nightclub.

The first man was in his 30s, 6ft tall, of medium but muscular build, with mousey brown-blond wavy hair and had a round face with stubble.

He had two gold teeth, one in the upper centre of his mouth and one on the upper right-hand side and a gold stud in his right ear.

He was wearing a cream jacket with brass buttons, a plain short-sleeved top and cream trousers and spoke with a mixed local and Irish accent.

The second man was in his late 20s or early 30s, 6ft 2in tall, of medium, strong build, with dark hair and a round clean-shaven face.

He was wearing a blue denim jacket, a white V-necked top and blue jeans and spoke with a local accent in a deep voice.

Det Sgt Angela Falp said: "I would like to hear from anyone who was in the H2O nightclub and may recognise these men or who may have seen them loitering in the area."
