The Essex Air Ambulance crew were in the right place when they flew into Brightlingsea for a presentation.
Brightlingsea and District Rotary Club and the Brightlingsea Carnival Association were handing over new equipment for the ambulance when an emergency call came in.
A man had collapsed in Victoria Place in the town and was unconscious.
The crew were given a lift by car to Victoria Place and the man was later flown to hospital in the air ambulance.
The Essex Air Ambulance had landed on Hurst Green shortly after 11.30am on Monday and was greeted by a crowd of well-wishers.
Jayne Chapman, of the carnival association, and John Holding, president of Brightlingsea Rotary Club, handed over the equipment which they had raised funds for.
The crew had time for sandwiches and coffee at the Rose Bud Pub on Hurst Green before the emergency call came through
