Colchester Council is to be spilt between two sites.
The outcome of the council's accommodation review, started because of problems of having offices dotted around the town, is a new two-site base.
Steve Clarke, head of economic and social regeneration at the council said 300 workstations would remain at Angel Court.
The remainder of the council's in-house staff, about another 300 workstations, would be moved to a new building.
Exactly which new building has not yet been decided by council chiefs.
