Colchester United's award-winning team boss Phil Parkinson told today of his 'pleasure and surprise' at his successful baptism as a Nationwide Football League manager.
Just one point away from mathematical relegation safety with still four games to play, the Division Two Manager-of-the-Month for March said: "I have been bowled over by my fantastic start.
"Although I knew that I was coming to a great little club with a great set of players I have to admit I've been pleasantly surprised that we have been so successful.
"Our results have been very good, which has obviously helped, and I've thoroughly enjoyed myself, but now we've got to finish off the season strongly to put us on the front foot going into next term."
The 35-year-old former Southampton apprentice who boasts a wealth of playing experience for Bury and Reading - 604 League and cup appearances - has to date gleaned five wins, four draws and 19 points from his first ten matches at the Layer Road helm.
