Trouble was narrowly averted after an overflow of water pooled just yards from an electricity sub-station in Tiptree.
Firefighters and experts from Anglian Water were called out after there was an overflow from water on ground below a water tower in Kelvedon Road.

The fire crew from Tiptree retained station pumped the water away.
An Anglian Water spokeswoman said: "We are looking into what happened there."
The water gushed into the neighbouring grounds of Ralph Alliker whose ducks and geese enjoyed the chance for a swim.
Mr Alliker said: "It erupted in the back drain and it was coming down the path."
He said his main concern was the danger of the water getting into the nearby electricity sub-station.
And he added that he had also been concerned about the water reaching his chickens and equipment in outbuildings.
Water also filled the yard at neighbouring Tower Motorcross.
