Die-hard Harry Potter fans rose bright and early to rush out and buy the latest film.
Woolworths, in Maldon High Street, opened its doors at 7am on Friday to greet one eager woman keen to get her hands on a copy of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Staff at the store got into the spirit of things and dressed up as characters from the film.
Manager Ian Miles, who was baddie Prof- essor Snape for the day, said: "We sold 12 copies in the first hour so it was worth opening early.
"The staff have all dressed up, we have a Hermion Granger, a Ron Weasley and some Hogwart students."
