Daniel Quinn was in mighty good form as he started his track and field season at the Sweatshop Hercules Wimbledon AC Young Athletes' meeting at Crystal Palace.
In blustery cold conditions Quinn was one of four Southend AC competitors in action and won the under-17 800m in a very impressive 2mins 1.5secs from a field of 38.
His brother Kieran won his individual race and was sixth overall in the under-15 800 in a PB 2mins 22.0secs. Andrew Bailey, in his first competitive 1500m, finished fourth overall in the under-13 boys and had a time of 5mins 5secs.
Zoe Young was Southend's only female representative, finishing third in the under-15 javelin and ninth in both shot putt and 100m.
The meeting was strongly represented by other Essex clubs including Basildon AC, but no results were received from them. Most events had starting line-ups of around 40.
