Firefighters at Clacton were kept busy with seven call-outs in the space of six hours.

The first incident was when a fire alarm went off in Woodrows Lane in the town but it turned out to be a system failure.

Five minutes later, one appliance went to a cooker ablaze in Fairclough Avenue but that had been put out before they arrived.

Then at 4.30pm in Chelmsford Road, Holland-on-Sea, crews went to the aid of a disabled man who had fallen out of his wheelchair.

The man had got himself stuck between the bed, the chair and the window but had managed to telephone for assistance.

The man was not injured and did not need any medical treatment.

At 6.30pm, it is believed children were responsible for a tree on fire opposite Castle Hill Caravan Park in London Road, Clacton.

One hose reel was used to put it out.

A call was made about a blaze in Rochford Way, St Osyth, just after 7pm but when the crew arrived, they discovered that it was a bonfire.

There were two more calls at about 9.30pm to a flat in High Street where there was a small amount of flooding which was dealt with by the owners, and then to Brunel Road where a car had been set alight.
