A pregnant woman was kicked in the stomach after she disturbed burglars at her home during a bungled breakin

The 35-year-old mum-of-three was hit in the face and kicked as she fell after she challenged a man ransacking her Rivenhall bungalow.

The attack happened at 4pm on Friday as the woman and her 27-year-old partner came back to their home in London Road, after picking up her three children from school

They saw an old white saloon car parked in their driveway with the engine running and doors open.

A police spokesman said: "The woman was confronted by a man holding her DVD player.

"When she challenged him, he struck her in the face with the DVD player and he kicked her to the floor. He then kicked her in the stomach."

The mother's partner tried to stop them and damaged the car's wing mirror, but the burglars drove off along the A12 Colchester bound.

The man was white, in his late 20s, skinny and 5ft 6ins tall. He had dark hair, dark stubble, and was wearing a dark baseball cap, a dark jumper, dark trousers and white trainers.
