A roadshow to publicise the use of real nappies is being held at Websters Way car park in Rayleigh on Wednesday.
During the event, which runs from 10am to 3pm, mums and dads can find out about a variety of real nappies available.
There is now a wide range of styles of reusable nappy - and pins and complicated folding are not necessary.
The benefits - both in costs to parents and for the environment - of reusable nappies is significant.
Every day, nine million nappies are thrown away in the UK, costing more than £50million annually for disposal.
Each disposable nappy takes 200 years to decompose and an average child uses an average 5,000 disposable nappies as compared with about 30 reusable ones.
