The Princess Royal was visiting Basildon Hospital today as part of her tour of south-east Essex.
She was to officially name the hospital's new Jubilee block, so-named in honour of the Queen's 50-year reign.
Before the hospital visit Princess Anne was visiting Bullwood Hall prison in Hockley, where she was due to open a new mental health centre.
Also on her itinerary was a tour of Cherry Orchard Jubilee Country Park, between Eastwood and Rochford, and a visit to Southend's Citizen's Advice Bureau, in St John's Road, Southend.
