Billericay residents can spend a penny at both a street market and new public toilet block if ambitious plans for the town get the go-ahead.
Town council chairman Trevor Stansfield has been leading calls for a weekly market to be held in the town's High Street for the past five years.
Now it has been calculated that if the market gets the go-ahead it will bring in £50,000 per year.
Mr Stansfield said this funding could be spent on much-needed projects around the town, such as a new public toilet block in the town centre.
The market would be run by a private contractor, who would share the profits with the Town Council.
