A little girl's dream of becoming a dancer has taken a major leap forward.
Just a day after her tenth birthday, Lily Scotcher gained a place in the prestigious English Youth Ballet.
Lily, who lives in Queensway, Holland-on-Sea, successfully auditioned to take part in a production organised by the national ballet company.
More than 106 hopefuls took part in a two-hour workshop to win the role.
Proud mum Dawn said: "It was all very intense but Lily takes it all in her stride and we did not know until the very end of the class if she had got through.
Lily is a pupil at St Philomena's School, Frinton, and takes dance lessons at Clacton's Tiffany Stage Academy.
She will start rehearsals with the ballet company soon and will be appearing in their production of Sleeping Beauty in the summer.
