Lee McGlone rifled home Clacton's late consolation but it was not enough to stop their proud nine-game unbeaten run grinding to a halt.
Impressive Soham - who climbed up to third in the Jewson League premier division table after this win - were in front at half-time after Tommy Crawford bundled home a low cross by Michael Simpson.
And Simpson was a key figure in the second goal when he was tripped in the area by keeper Darren Gould.
The referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot and Michael Bugg slotted home to make it 2-0.
Prolific marksman Bugg grabbed the third when he got the better of Gould to nod home a cross by Crawford.
By now, Clacton were well on course for their first defeat since losing 2-1 at home to Harwich in early March.
But they gave themselves a glimmer of hope with eight minutes left when Sean Hillier's effort ricochetted into the path of McGlone and he drilled home to make it 3-1.
Clacton are back in action tomorrow when Fakenham visit the Rush Green Bowl.
