Basildon police and immigration officers are hunting a Nigerian conman who has fleeced several banks and may be creating false passports for other criminals.
Cyril Uddoh, 29, made a moonlight flit from a rented flat in Plymouth Road, Thurrock, after racking up over a £1,000 worth of unpaid rent.
He left behind a large bag containing dozens of credit cards, cheques, identity cards, letters from Nigeria requesting passports, immigration details and other items which were in different names.
Police have since contacted many of the banks - including Nationwide, Halifax, Natwest, Woolwich and Barclays - about cards in the names of Cyril Uddoh, Williams Burkerl, Peter Clifford, H Katechia and A Wallace among others.
A CV found in the bag falsely cites Mr Uddoh's nationality as British and that he has a BA in business administration and marketing from the University of East London.
PC Terry Wheeler, fraud officer at Basildon police, said: "He is an exceedingly devious individual who believes he can operate outside the boundaries of the law."
