A woman was subjected to a terrifying double rape in a car near Chelmsford railway station in the early hours of Tuesday.
The 25-year-old Chelmsford woman told police that she was attacked after getting into a car with three men.
She had been sitting on the steps by the fire escape outside Dukes night club, in Duke Street, when a man of Asian appearance approached her.
After a conversation with him, she got into a small, dark car that was in the car park with two other men.
The car was driven a short distance towards the area of Chelmsford station, where the driver stopped the vehicle and two of the men raped and assaulted the woman.
She managed to break free and ran back past the station, through the town centre to Parkway.
Detective Inspector Ewen Wilson said: "We are very concerned and in the thick of a delicate investigation. We would appeal for any witnesses to come forward.
"They may have seen three Asian-looking males, one wearing a bandana, with a white girl getting into a small, dark-coloured vehicle parked in the vicinity of the railway station."
