Pupils at King John School, in Shipwrights Drive, Thundersley, were given a talk by the refuge's Pam Young about violence in the home.

School spokeswoman Anne Twomey said the youngsters were surprised at the extent of the problem.

She said they were glad that they now knew where to turn if it should happen to them.
