Excited Brownies had their fingerprints taken and were shown police cells as part of a scheme to introduce youngsters to a work environment.
PC Jackie Barber is the police schools liaison officer for Castle Point and in her spare time runs the 1st Thundersley Guide pack.
She took a group of her Brownies to Canvey police station to learn more about the work of police officers.
PC Barber, who has been an officer for 25 years, said: "They were all keen to see the cells though some were a little apprehensive that they might get locked in if they were not on their best behaviour!"
PC Barber arranged the visit after reading about the national Take Your Daughter to Work Day which encourages parents to take their children into their workplace.
The girls - aged between seven and ten - toured the police station and were shown how officers fingerprint suspects.
