A new ship is due to make its maiden voyage into Harwich this Easter.

DFDS Seaways' ferry Duchess of Scandinavia arrives at Harwich International Port on Good Friday at 10.30am.

It will run between Harwich and Cuxhaven, Germany, and will sail for the Continent that afternoon.

John Crummie, managing director of DFDS Seaways UK, said: "This investment will bring great commercial benefits to the town of Harwich and the surrounding area and also provide the local population with a great range of travel and holiday options to northern Europe."

The Duchess of Scandinavia can carry 840 passengers. It will include an la carte restaurant, Scandinavian dinner buffet, shopping centre, bar, lounge, casino, cinema and children's club.
