Spartans got off to a great start to the South-east Conference season with a comprehensive shut-out win over Chiltern.
After last year's slow start cost the Basildon-based club a run at the play-offs, the club have kicked off with a result which justifies head coach Dean Gibson's pre-season optimism.

But despite the impressive outcome he insists there is more to come from his side when they learn to take their chances properly.
"Although we won we didn't really play the way we should," he admitted. "But being the first game of the season we needed to blow away a few cobwebs.
"In the first half we started moving the ball about quite nicely without getting it into the end zone.
"Then suddenly, at the end of the second quarter we picked up a couple of quick scores and found ourselves 14-0 up."
Much of the success came from interceptions, with Ben Pater running home one of four balls claimed on the defence.
And John Stott also ran in a TD after receiving a 20-yard pass.
The win sets Spartans up nicely for next week's local derby clash with Southend Sabres at Gloucester Park.
"There are going to be some tough games ahead, starting with the Sabres who always put up a tough challenge," added Gibson.
