Southend are brimming with confidence ahead of their final push for the National League is in Norwich on Saturday, but they may have to make it without key forward Dave McDonald.
The flanker injured his knee early on in the vital home win over Hertford a fortnight ago and is a serious doubt for the trip to Norfolk - where victory will virtually guarantee promotion as London One champions.
"He's a real hitman for us and would be missed if he can't make it," said skipper James Shearing.
James Hyde, a more than adequate replacement who scored a last try in the Hertford clash, is on standby to fill in for McDonald.
