The boss of the four McDonald's restaurants in Basildon has had his head shaved for charity.
Ayhan Isikgun, is the franchise holder of the McDonald's in Laindon, Basildon town centre, the Festival Leisure Park and the Mayflower Retail Park, along with his wife Gen.
Scores of people watched as Ayhan and fellow volunteer Neil Farquhar, who is their McDonald's operation consultant, were shaved at the town centre restaurant.
Hairdressers from the Styles Hair Studio, in Stacey's Corner, Basildon, performed the charity stunt and all the proceeds are to go towards a new family centre at Basildon Hospital.
Gen said: "We are raising money towards the cost of building a three-bedroom bungalow at the hospital which will be used by parents and relatives of seriously sick children receiving treatment there.
Gen said £250,000 towards the £300,000 cost of the centre had been met by the Ronald McDonald children's charity and she and her husband were determined to raised the remaining £50,000.
