Rochford Rotary Club encouraged people to go along and have a free blood pressure check by professional health workers.
The club teamed up with the Stroke Association to offer people the chance to have the check on Stroke Awareness Day.
At Clements Hall Leisure Centre in Hawkwell on Saturday, they were aiming to give checks to as many people as possible so as to aid the bid for a record. A spokesman said: "We are adding up the number of people who came to see if we were successful."
