Geraint Williams today pledged his immediate future to Phil Parkinson and Colchester United.
The 41-year-old former Welsh international has signed a new deal to remain at Layer Road as manager Parkinson's assistant.
But neither he nor the club were prepared to reveal the duration of his new contract.
Delighted to have finalised a new deal that will keep him at the U's for a sixth season, Williams told the Evening Gazette: "I'm very happy to have signed a contract to continue all the good work we have been doing.
"Everything has gone really well for us in the past couple of months and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Phil (Parkinson) and my short period as caretaker manager.
"Our recent successes have come as a result of a real team effort, firstly involving myself, Micky Stockwell and Brian Owen and most importantly the players.
"The gaffer has since come in and galvanized us into the squad we are today.
"And the manager has already indicated he will be looking for the team to be more successful."
