Work to begin building a £110,000 skatepark could begin by the end of the year, it has been revealed.
A series of meetings has taken place between regeneration group Canvey 2000, Castle Point Council, police and Essex Youth Service to thrash out details of the skatepark for Canvey.
Dennis Williams, chairman of Canvey 2000, said feedback from all the agencies involved had been very positive.
He said the council had provisionally agreed to have responsibility for the park which it is hoped will be built on a plot of land by Waterside Farm sports centre.
He said: "Our target is for the first stage of the building work to begin by the end of this year."
