Vandals attacked a railway station overnight leaving two platforms covered in graffiti.

Staff arriving for work at Chalkwell station, in Chalkwell Esplanade, early today found platforms covered in obscenities and "tagged" by vandals.

Billboards and information stands were also defaced with paint in what staff believe could be a revenge attack aimed at rail police.

Kim Gorman, group station manager, said: "I have never seen anything like this. It is awful. "It is going to take days to clean off."

Staff at c2c will study CCTV footage before passing any relevant information on to police
