Tendring Hundred Water is making quite a splash with its efforts to get customers on meters.
The company - which provides water to most residents across Tendring - has managed to achieve a 50 per cent success rate since its efforts began.
And that is far better than many others in the region and country.
Tendring Hundred Water has been praised by the regional water watchdog, WaterVoice Eastern, for what it is doing while others have come in for stern criticism.
Tendring Hundred Water, along with Anglian Water and Cambridge Water, has managed to hit the 50 per cent mark, while Essex and Suffolk Water only has 31 per cent of households taking metered supplies.
The national average stands at about 23 per cent.
Catherine Harvey, WaterVoice Eastern's chairman, has asked questions of those not doing so well and will monitor what is done to address the situation.
