A man who admitted a string of assaults on his ex-partner at her Colchester home has been jailed for four months.
Darren Phillips, 36, admitted four counts of common assault against Carol Bozier between January 9 and January 13.
Colchester Magistrates' Court heard yesterday Phillips had punched, pushed, and slapped Ms Bozier, causing bruising all over her body.
Stuart Frame, prosecuting, told the court Phillips and Ms Bozier, who have a two-and-a-half-year-old child, would occasionally start drinking at 8.30am and argue during the day.
Caroline Woodley, mitigating, said Phillips had made positive steps to resolve his drink problem.
Magistrates sentenced Phillips, of Dagenham, to a month for each assault, which had taken place on January 9, January 10, January 11 and January 13, to run consecutively.
