A DJ played tunes outside the store in Miles Gray Road, Pipps Hill retail park, Basildon, as council chairman Joe White cut the ribbon to allow shoppers in. David Skipper, the shop's assistant manager, said the opening weekend had been a big success.
He said: "There has been a steady flow of customers who gave the store a big thumbs up. We are glad to be able to bring PC World to Basildon."
To mark the opening the store was decorated with balloons and sweets were given out to youngsters.
