Chalvedon Boxing Club's Micky Murnane took a big step towards realising his Olympic dream when he landed the National Schoolboys championship.

The 16-year-old, fighting the 57kg section, outpointed defending champ Robert Lee to win 4-2 on the computer count.

And trainer Frank Doyle, who has worked with Murnane since he entered the Basidon gym, reckons he has what it takes to go all the way.

"Lee is a youth England representative, so this result couldn't be better," he said. "The next step is to get into the youth England squad himself, then start looking towards the senior side.

"Micky has always said his ambition is to box at the Olympics -- and he has all the talent he needs."
