A recruitment drive has been launched to find more people to become volunteers in the borough.
Staff at Castle Point volunteer bureau are trying to encourage people who themselves require extra support to become volunteers.
Bernard Clark, who is a volunteer support worker at the bureau, said: "There is no reason why people who have difficulties themselves cannot play an active part in the community.
"We will fully support them and there are in turn a range of organisations and people that could do with their help."
Mr Clark joined the bureau three months ago and has spent much of his time fact-finding similar projects which specifically cater for people with extra support needs.
The bureau is forming a partnership with the Salvation Army in Hadleigh to provide a range of opportunities that people with difficulties can take part in.
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer should contact Bernard Clark or Suzie Brutnell at the bureau on 01268 638416.
