A driver is fuming after a replacement warning bollard at a dangerous junction was mistakenly left completely blank.
The bollard at the Five Corners junction in Wickham Bishops should have featured a blue arrow telling drivers heading for Kelvedon Road from Maypole Road to keep left.
But the arrow is missing and some motorists have been mistakenly steering round to the right of a grass island at the junction, into the path of traffic coming down Prince of Wales Road.
Maypole Road resident Bryan Freeman who campaigned for the bollard to be put up after its predecessor was damaged by a passing car said he was worried if the error was not corrected there would be a serious crash at the already hazardous crossroads.
"Somebody is going to be killed," he said.
John Marven, who twice-daily leads horses across Maypole Road from the riding school he runs at Fanners Farm, said the complex five-pronged junction would remain a worry to him even when the sign was fixed.
A spokesman for Essex County Highways said the blank sign would be put right as soon as possible
