Final preparations are being made for a record-breaking diving attempt to raise money for charity.
Mick Brown,50, a diving instructor for X Dive Association, is preparing to plunge into the swimming pool at Walton and stay there for as long as possible to boost funds for a new minibus for the Clacton and District Occupational Workshops.
On Saturday, Mr Brown, of Salisbury Road, Holland-on-Sea, will be diving with only one 12-litre high-pressure cylinder of air and will be trying to beat the world record of six hours 57 seconds.
Mr Brown, who runs his own business called Mick Brown Maintenance, said: "I am doing more physical keep-fit and I think I am at the peak with regards to breathing.
"I have been working on it and I think I am as efficient as I want to be. I'm quite confident."
The record-breaking attempt is being organised by Mr Brown and Clacton Rotary Club.
