Protesters are expected to turn up in force tonight when plans to build 70 homes in their village are due to be discussed by councillors.
Businessman Roy Bridgeman is hoping to build the mini-estate on the East Coast Disposal site off Thorpe Road, Kirby Cross a 3.5-acre site bounded by other developments and a railway line.
The bid is set to be discussed by Frinton and Walton town councillors at their full meeting but a decision will be up to Tendring Council.
The protesters argue the village is becoming swamped with new residential developments and fear there are not the community facilities to support them.
The outline plan suggests a possible prime access point would be via Peake Avenue off Station Road, which villagers claim would be too narrow and could not cope safely with the extra traffic.
Most of the protesters come from Chapel Lane and Thorpe Road.
