Thurrock Council is to spend £32million in a bid to meet Government waste disposal and recycling targets.
The council and waste disposal giant Cleanaway have joined forces in a five-year partnership aimed at doubling the amount of rubbish recycled in the borough by 2005.
Around 45 staff will transfer to Cleanaway.
