RAF firefighters battled a blaze in Billericay after an elderly woman knocked over a candle in her home last night.
Shortly after 7pm, the RAF crew - providing emergency fire cover for striking firefighters - were called to the house in Mayflower Road.
A Red Goddess and a breathing apparatus unit were sent out along with 11 RAF personnel.
The elderly occupant had stayed in her house while the fire took hold and was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. The temporary crews were also called to a false alarm at Basildon Hospital overnight.
