Mud is making life a misery for car owners in a Maldon road.
William Alford, 80, of America Street, says he has been battling for more than four years about a grass island in the road which is used for turning by residents and lorries.
He said: "Lorries use it to go round but there is not enough space for them to get round properly because the road is narrow. So they go up on to the grass."
He explained the edges of the island were full of deep mud and muddy water, which just gets deeper and worse every time somebody drives on it.
And the mud is squirting up on to cars parked near the island and making them dirty.
Mr Alford says he is also concerned about children who play in the area.
"The mud is very deep and any little child would never get out of the water."
A spokeswoman for the Plume Housing Association, which is responsible for the land, said: "We are looking into this matter and will be in a better position to advise of any action we decide to take early next week."
