Basildon were determined to prove Harwich were lucky last time they played them for the third time this season.

Captain Jim Harman said: "After the long trip here we were totally unprepared for the game. We had some new faces from the U17s who played exceptionally well.

"Even though the result seems like a good win, I felt disappointed as I know that we are capable of producing much better rugby."

Basildon did not show Harwich any respect and were 10-0 up after 10 minutes, both tries scored by U17 Gavin Scott.

After that Basildon relaxed and let Harwich into the game but showed that their defence skills were superior to any attack Harwich had.

The visitors spent all of the second half in the opposition's half. Harwich were finished off by tries from James Meadows, Greg Wilson and George Baker.
