Five young members of Rayleigh's Shin-gi-tai Shotokan Karate club were presented with their end-of-year awards.

Most respected member went to Stuart Gregory (14), one of the club's founders and now a black belt first dan.

A similar prize went to ten-year-old Lloyd Gregory, who has also won top achievement awards.

Most improved students were Bradley Bains (14) and Lauren Gregory (10) who have impressed their instructors with their skills and attitude this year.

The most promising newcomer was red belt Grace Thompson, aged 10. Her six months at the club have already shown her natural flair.
