Colchester United new boys Liam Chilvers of Arsenal and Gareth Williams from Crystal Palace got off to a losing start as promotion chasing Blackpool completed their second League double
Having already beaten the U's 3-1 at Bloomfield Road just after Christmas, the Seasiders stretched their unbeaten run to seven matches with a scrappy two-goal win at Layer Road on Saturday
Blackpool were handed a fortunate 51st minute lead when U's keeper Simon Brown could only parry a Scott Taylor shot against the chest of his own captain Scott Fitzgerald for an unfortunate own goal
Danny Coid made the points safe with a real cracker of a goal 18 minutes later and Colchester's woe was completed by the sending-off nine minutes from the end of Karl Duguid for two bookable offences
