Ryman Division One North strugglers East Thurrock saw their hopes of building on a great 5-0 midweek win over Great Wakering ended when local rivals Aveley completed the double over them.
The only goal came after 61 minutes when former Billericay favourite Steve Dickinson's 25-yard free-kick saw another ex-New Lodge man, goalkeeper Stuart Horne, get a hand to the ball and divert it onto a post, but the ball rolled into the net.
