The safety of elderly people in their own homes is being highlighted by police in a series of demonstrations.
Reports of bogus callers targeting people in sheltered and warden-controlled accommodation have been on the increase around Colchester and officers want to warn people about the dangers
The town's crime reduction officer, Colin Stiff, said he is worried about how easy some callers find it to get into secure areas and wants people to be more aware.
He is arranging a series of demonstrations for groups of elderly people living in warden-controlled homes to show the scams conmen use to get into homes.
He also praised the Evening Gazette's If In Doubt Keep 'em Out campaign for raising the awareness of the problem of bogus callers.
Mr Stiff will be going into homes to address groups in February and said if anyone else wants to be involved they can contact him on 01206 717624
