Firefighters are lobbying Basildon Council to install domestic sprinkler systems in homes in a bid to "save lives".
Basildon Fire and Rescue safety officer, Jack Imrie, claims the sprinklers would be a more effective way of fighting fires.
He said "Nationally, firefighters think there should be an amendment to building regulations that would require sprinklers."
