International basketball player Tendai Simbai has signed for the Colchester United Community Sports Trust team.
This is a great boost for the newly-affiliated side as they prepare for their first game.
Standing at an amazing seven feet and two inches, Simbai is a seasoned player in his home country of Zimbabwe.
Having played in the national league in Harare and his country at junior and senior level, his experience will be a great asset to the already well-established U's.
Since his arrival, manager Mark Lloyd has helped ensure the transition is a smooth one.
Helping Simbai adjust is a challenge and Lloyd said: "It's quite a big change for him to come here.
"He's had to adapt his game to the European style of play so we've had him playing in the Suffolk League regularly to gain more court time and help him with the transition to the English National League."
A great track record follows Simbai to this country and Mark added: "He's already averaging an amazing 30 points per game and, as well as his height advantage blocking the opposition shots, he has recorded quite a few slam dunks."
On Saturday, the U's have an exciting home game against Cardiff Clippers, who are second in division two of the National League.
The venue is Highwoods Leisure Centre and tip-off time is 6pm
