Purfleet have always had an eye for a bargain and look to have picked up another in striker Kris Lee.
A couple of seasons ago he was the leading striker in the Ryman League and as a result Chelmsford City paid £15,000 to Heybridge for his services.
However, a bad knee injury prompted the Dr Martens side to think again and they were more than happy to loan him out.
Lee, though, has proved just the hard-working striker Fleet were in need of after releasing both George Georgiou and Colin Simpson in the wake of the humiliating FA Cup defeat to Flackwell Heath.
Now a player whose career was at the crossroads can look forward to a more secure future having been bought by Fleet for a nominal fee.
"If we're being honest about it Kris has worked out better than expected and I'm convinced there is even more to come," said manager Colin McBride.
