Chelmsford-based soft drinks giant Britvic has taken on 40 new production line people to launch its new drink Freekee Soda a type of fizzy milk-shake

The new line means that Britvic on the Widford Business Park west of town is at its busiest for ten years.

Freekee in 'Strange Strawberry' and 'Odd Orange' contains added calcium and sweetener but no added sugar and will be produced exclusively in the county town following an investment of £1.5million

The company says its J2 fruit juice brand has doubled capacity in 2002 and they are helping produce Robinson Fruit Shoot to help meet rocketing demand.

The new soda goes on sale from the end of next month.

Britvic is controlled by Six Continents Plc in partnership with Allied Domecq and Whitbread under the Britannia Soft Drinks brand and last year had a turnover of £500million-plus as the UK's second volume producer.
