A primary school adjudged to be underachieving three years ago has made big strides.
Those are the findings of Government inspectors, who have praised Chase Lane in Dovercourt for the efforts and progress it has made since its last report in 2000.
They believe the school has worked hard to tackle the reasons for its underachievement and as a result standards have risen in English and maths in both key stages.
There was high praise for the quality of the school's nursery which gives children a good start to their education.
Teaching was judged as very good in the nursery, and good or satisfactory elsewhere in the school.
The inspectors called for an improvement in science, where standards are below the national average, and also in attendance rates.
