Would-be thieves were foiled when they were scared off by a resident worker in a golf club.
A burglary at Frinton Golf Club on the Esplanade was averted after thieves got a shock when they broke into the clubhouse at 3.45am on Monday.
The alarm sounded waking up bar manager Matthew Witham, who lives a flat at the club.
When he then rushed downstairs he frightened the would-be burglars away before anything could be stolen.
Anyone with information should call Walton police through Clacton on 01255 221312.
