Large numbers of travellers and their children could end up on the streets if they lose their fight for a permanent site, a public inquiry has heard.

Speaking on the final day of the inquiry into the Crays Hill travellers' site, Neil Weeks, counsel for some travellers, said: "Failure of the appeal would mean the break-up of their families.

"They would en masse be made homeless."
